Announcing the new EP from Jenny Mayhem

Jenny's self-titled EP will be released October 16th and it already has a lot of buzz behind it following the success of her "Keep the Fire" project. Her songs have been featured on a number of nonprofit and artistic video campaigns for her acoustics and down-to-earth feel.

I just had the opportunity to listen to the exclusive tracks before their release.  I'm really feeling all three tracks, they are very creative and imaginative.  The track I am posting is one that everyone in a one-sided relationship can relate to and is titled: "Could Be".  Enjoy and be on the look out for more Jenny Mayhem!

ECOMOG - Birds of a Feather - [MP3] [Video]

Let's hope the power doesn't go out again this time, I'm blogging in the path of hurricane Irene right now! I recently ran across this dope video for a single by ECOMOG called "The Rain". Mad props on the lyrics and overall production! Actually, the rain is REALLY coming down right now. I've rode out 5 or 6 hurricanes that I can remember, but for some reason this one seems a lil spookier... My life has always been somewhat ironic anyway and I can def relate to the crazy story-line of the video. Needless to say this track was painting my current scenery, listening while I checked on the status of the storm. Again you can check out the video here.      I looked up ECOMOG (which stands for e.very c.hange o.ccurs m.usically o.ver g.enerations) and found some more of their pages which are listed below.  The best way I can describe them is electro-retro hip-hop.  Retro-style flow over electro-style and sampled beats.  Some tracks have clips from the 70's and 80's like on "Cant Stop the Illness" from their previous project: The Message. Check out their fb page and their new project "Birds of a Feather" which has a solid 13 tracks. I even went through the trouble to embed the album here so listen!

Sounds on Fire - Wild Fire 3

BE WARNED! The following is NOT for weak Hip-Hop heads! There, you've been warned, now keep reading:
My boys in Sydney, Australia just hit me up, yeah I know people all over the globe! Sounds of Fire, aka SOF, just dropped a funky new album called Wild Fire 3: Greater Than Fire.  It's got a crazy sound and vibe to it, I already got it on repeat in the deck!  The band members are K-Switch, Dough Boy, Lord Lucas, Illegal D, and Masked Man Maze Man.  Each song they make is a straight-up head banger and kudos on the lyrics fellas for keeping it real and keeping it Hip-Hop!
For those not in the loop yet, please join their Facebook page, over 200 people have already. They've got a gang of vids on their Youtube channel too.  Also, don't forget to follow them on Twitter and check out their main site at http://www.soundsonfire.com.au/ for updates!

Jenny Mayhem - Morning Sun

Her name is actually contrary to her style.  Here comes a rockin' artist with the last name Mayhem and you think she's gonna scream you to "def" but then she starts playing and you are soothed by floating riffs and her soft, comforting voice; reminiscent of Nora Jones.  Then you are trapped; not having a care in the world... not until you have to press repeat. Her name is Jenny Mayhem.

I reached out to Mrs. Mayhem and had a quick conversation with her.  One of the things she said was that leaving her home (Barbados) at a young age was one of the hardest things she's had to do to get to this point. Now based out of Toronto, Canada; Jenny states, "...it was a roadblock as well as a huge opportunity..." for her. She also mentioned that she couldn't have made it without the support of her mom, "...not many people have a mum like I do!"

Jenny's lastest EP, Keep the Fire, reached #5 top seller on BandCamp.com (June 11th 2010). Check out more from Jenny Mayhem on her Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. Otherwise watch her latest video for her song,"Morning Sun", which was also featured in the official Gears of War 3 demo.

Tiffany Grace - Sleeping with the Enemy

By now, you know me for introducing you to artists that you should be on the look out for: Tiffany Grace is, by far, no exception. Don't get me wrong, but I definitely didn't expect her to sound like this!  There's so much soul and creativity packed into her songs, you can tell that Tiffany grew up listening to the likes of Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin; it really shows in her voice. The video that I'm posting is a perfect example of what she is capable of, plus, I absolutely support her goal to spread the awareness of domestic violence and troubles facing women around the world.
After struggling with producers trying to mold her to their liking, Tiffany started her own label, Silhouette Records. Since then she has received much recognition including the honor of having her demo featured in celebrity gift bags at the MTV Awards™!

Kid Koala, Your Mom's Favorite DJ

Kid Koala

Just got put on to Kid Koala, a DJ out of Vancouver, Canada.  Turns out he's a pretty big deal signed to the U.K. label Ninja Tune Records.  He's been on the scene since '96 but his latest compilation, Your Mom’s Favorite DJ, is a good start to getting to know the Kid.

He has a very unique style, sampling clips from jazz records, T.V., movies... also commercials and many other unlikely sources... but it all meshes and creates creative sounds and catchy beats.  For More Go Here
