"The Shift"

Lately, I've been bothered a bit
realized this society is set up for me to sin.
But don’t they kno that the closer to God I get
the further I shift from this twisted life I live?

I never forget how priceless
my soul is...
but I cant seem to make my flesh bend
like I'm not in control of it!
And music is my best friend
so my story gets told to it
while I'm stretched like my checks is
seems life I'm not affordin it.

And Hell is scorchin' in
patience for my arrival,
judge yelled no warning and
no statements taken from the client.
My story, I can hold it in
like the contents of the Bible
it's gotta be told to friends
heard, read, and recited.

But in spite of my efforts
I feel right-less like I left it
or jus passed my Exit
on the highway to Hell and... melted.
Reading through decrepit
pages of rhymes
and speaking life lessons
thru ages of wisdom
is the future of my time
feel how you wish, I just need u to listen.
