HTC DNA Smartphone Review

     The HTC DNA by Verizon...

is the first phone in the U.S. with full 1080p screen resolution!  That means this phone acts like most HD flatscreen TVs... imagine your flat screen in the palm of your hand. That's more pixels per square inch than even the iPhone 5.  Corning's Gorilla Glass 2 gives the screen reinforced strength and and scratch/shatter resistance. The screen is very smooth, almost feels non-existent and seems 3D, especially in the dark.
So you wanna talk speed? This thing has a quad-core processor! That's twice as powerful as my duo-core desktop pc and the iPhone 5.  This is needed to power the huge display and keep the phone from bogging down while watching HD vids.
Takes pics in a blink and works well in low light too.
The DNA is one of the only phones on the market right now with at least a 2.1 MP front-facing camera so you can record HD video with it as well as the rear-facing 8MP camera.  Take photos from video and take slow-motion video too.
Over Verizon's 4G LTE network, youtube videos rarely pause for buffering and pages load almost instantly.  It is even faster than my wi-fi connection at home!
The smartphone also comes with NFC, which means you can use your new phone as a mobile wallet and wave it over a wireless terminal to pay for things like gas.  You can also exchange contacts, links and media with other NFC devices and wirelessly charge your phone with this technology.
Overall, I'm blown away by the power and the display most of all. BeatsAudio sounds incredible on this device too.  Everything else comes standard on the android Jellybean operating system. Like facial recognition to unlock your phone, swype typing technology, and a host of others features that makes life easier.

Now for some gripes.... The biggest thing I dislike about the DNA is the lack of SD card support; so no expandable memory. It only comes about 11 GB of usable space and you can't just bring in your music collection by popping in your SD card. Also, the battery is built-in like the iPhone and you can't swap it out or replace it.  But, it is a high capacity battery anyway so the charge lasts many hours of heavy use.  I transferred a gigabyte of media to the device from my old one via Bluetooth, it took about 1.5 hours but didn't obliterate the battery.  Other than that this will be the phone to beat at least until mid year.

It is available for cheap here: Verizon DNA

The DNA learning my face...scary but handy if someone steals it they cant unlock it.

I hope you have enjoyed my review of the HTC DNA from Verizon.
